We’re Joining Appcelerator for a Mobile Dev Challenge!

By

As any of our dozens of OneCloud partners can tell you, we love awesome mobile apps. That’s why we’re excited to be part of Appcelerator’s Mobile Dev Challenge, which is offering cold, hard cash to developers who use Appcelerator Titanium to build the next great app. In addition to the money, the winners will be flown out to join Appcelerator’s CEO Jeff Haynie on stage at CODESTRONG, Appcelerator’s annual developer conference, to show what they’ve built, plus they’ll get a chance to pitch a panel of top-tier VCs.

Of course, while we think any mobile app that helps workers do their jobs is a great app, we can’t help but think that the ones that leverage the Box platform are a step above the rest. That’s why we’re offering a $5000 prize as part of the Mobile Dev Challenge for the best app that uses the Box API. Our prize can be won independently or in conjunction with the first and second place prizes (and we certainly hope the best app will be one that uses Box!).

A couple of tips to help you win:
Build an app for businesses – since we’re an enterprise software company, we’re going to be partial to those apps that serve businesses. We’re open to apps that generally improve productivity of mobile workers or those that help streamline processes unique to a particular vertical. If you have any questions about what we’re looking for, just shoot us an email at API@box.com.

Integrate deeply – go beyond just allowing your users to upload and download files. We offer a host of more advanced features like comments, tagging, full text search and version history, all of which can be taken advantage of through the API, so take advantage of them! Some of those features (like version history and full text search) require an enterprise account to use, so if you want to access those APIs, just shoot us an email at API@box.com, and we’ll get you set.

Hopefully that helps get you started. We’re looking forward to seeing what you build!
